Queen’s Walk, the mandatory tour in London

If you are planning to visit London for the first time, the Queen’s Walk is one of the MUST have attraction to add in your London’s itinerary. The Queen’s Walk is the free self‑guided sightseeing tour where visitors can walk some of London’s most popular attractions. From London Eye to Tower Bridge the walk is always evolving, but here is a summary about the places you cannot miss along the way.

1. Westminster Bridge

Built in 1738, this bridge links the area of Lambeth to Westminster. From the bridge you will have a gorgeous view across the river to the Houses of Parliament and Big Ben.

If you are an sealife fan, the Country Hall is now a major top attraction to visit around the Bridge. Home of London Aquarium, London Dungeon and London Marriot Hotel.

2. London Eye

In addition to the most beautiful views, the London Eye area is a nice place to walk, sit and people‑watch at the heart of Southbank. There are so many pubs, street performers and nice stores. Even if you decided not enter in the London Eye, worth walk around there.

3. Golden Jubilee Footbridges

There has been a walkway crossing the river Thames since 1845 when Isambard Kingdom opened his suspension footbridge.

4. Southbank Centre

The Southbank Centre is one of the most famous art venues of London. With multiple eating and drinking facilities, this is the place everyone must visit to see the cultural life in London.

Check their free events and spend some time visiting the terrace overlooking the river Thames.

5. Royal National Theatre

The urban concrete aesthetic has been the hub of English theater since 1976.

6. Oxo Tower and Gabriel’s Wharf

Built in the early 1900s as an electricity station to supply the Post Office and bought later by the company OXO, the famous building is home to contemporary designer shops, restaurants, cafes and pop‑ups exhibitions.

7. Tate Modern

This is a must visit if you fan of modern art. The visit is free!

8. The Millennium Footbridge

The beautiful bridge links the Southbank to London’s city via St. Paul’s Cathedral. The views of the church are stunning from Millennium Footbridge.

9. Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre

Opened in 1997, this is a replica of the original Globe Theater, where many of Shakespeare’s play were first performed.

10. The Anchor Pub

This is a historic landmark built in 1615 when Samuel Pepys watched the Great Fire of London take a hold on the city in 1666. The place is great to enjoy a pint steeped in history. Cheers! 🍻

11. The Golden Hinde

This is where you will find a 16th‑century galleon in the middle of the city. The place is around The Anchor Pub, surrounded by beautiful murals and great views of the Thames River.

12. Southwark Cathedral

A Cathedral since 1905, this has been a place of workship for over 1000 years. The entrance is free, but there is a £2 fee for pictures, which are hard to miss because the place is SO beautiful.

13. Borough Market

This is London’s famous food market. Go hungry to try a little of everything. The market is there since 1851 and you can find plates from all around the globe! Go hungry!

14.Tower Bridge

This is London’s most iconic Bridge and no matter where you start your tour, this is the place nobody can miss when in London. You can walk walk across the River Thames and take a visit inside to find out the history of this amazing bridge.

15. St Paul’s Cathedral

Design by Christopher Wren, the church took 35 years to be built. It’s famous dome was inspired by St Peter’s Basilica in Rome, is still the 3rd largest church dome in the world. Lady Diana married the The Prince of Wales at St Paul’s Cathedral in London in 1981.
