Countries you can visit from Vienna

During our recent trip to Europe, we were surprised by how easy it is to visit multiple neighboring countries within a short period of time. From Vienna to Bratislava, for instance, you can take a bus to cross the border in the morning, spend the entire day visiting the city and be back in the same day, and done! Now you add Slovakia to your list! Researching a little bit more about where you could go from Vienna, we realized it’s possible to reach 29 countries within 500 miles (800 km) from the capital. Can you believe it? You can count 30, if you add other cities than Vienna, in Austria itself.

We have been living in California for almost one decade, the state has 840 miles from South to North, and if we drive 500 miles we will still be in California. This is the beauty of traveling around Europe, in one month, or even in one weekend, you can visit  multiple countries.

What countries border with Austria?

Austria borders eight countries: Germany, the Czech Republic, Slovakia, Hungary, Slovenia, Italy, Switzerland and Liechtenstein.
