1. Zurich Old Town

Narrow streets full of beautiful boutiques, charming restaurants, great cafés and a medieval environment, this is the Old Town. Schipfe, Niederdorf, we were confused by the names, but we added one of the streets on Google Maps and everything was easy to visit and hard to leave.

2. Augustinergasse and the famous streets of Zurich

Augustinergasse is the most charming street. If you are visiting Zurich, you can start here! Once you get there it is easy to walk around Rennweg, Munstergasse, and Napfgasse, which are the main streets to get an overview of the Old Town. The Niederdorf is part of the old town and known for its medieval alleyways, squares, and cathedrals. It’s a pedestrian zone with interesting sights and culinary delights. You’ll be there even without realizing it.

3.Schipfe

The areas known as Schipfe in front of the lake where you can take the most beautiful pictures of the bridges enjoying the medieval and Renaissance buildings.

4.Fraumunster and the churchs of Zurich

Fraumünster, Grossmünster, Predigerkirche and St. Peter are the main churches to visit in Zurich. Of all of them, Fraumünster is the only one visitors need to pay for the entrance. The church is a three-aisled, pillared basilica with a Gothic nave built from the 13th to the 15th centuries. Although the church itself is worth seeing, what makes it one of Zurich’s most popular tourist attractions is the beautiful set of five stained-glass windows in the chancel created by Marc Chagall in 1970.

St. Peter’s Church is the oldest parish church in Zurich. In 1538, the church acquired the largest clock dials in Europe, with 8.7 meters in diameter.

5.Lindenhof

Lindenhof is where you can have the most beautiful views of the city. The western half of Zürich’s old town rises steeply to the serene area of Lindenhof. This is where the Romans built their fortified settlement in the fourth century to defend against migrations from the North. Centuries later, a royal residence was built in the place where today, it’s a tree-shaded park with water fountain, benches, chess players, and tourists enjoying the most amazing views across the river and Old Town. You’ll hear and see Grossmünster church, Zurich’s famous landmark from there.

6. Limmtquai and the Rathaus or Town Hall

The area you’ll see from the Lindenhof is called Limmatquai, which is a popular riverside shopping street with elegant houses which we were told have sumptuous interiors reflecting the wealth of the guilds which governed the town until 1789. You can get a look inside, once many of them are now house restaurants in that area.

Zürich’s Town Hall, known as the Rathaus, is easy to spot, as it overhangs the river and is supported on wide arches at the east end of the Rathausbrücke. The place was built between 1694 – 1698, and is worth seeing.

7. Bahnhofstrasse and the Banhof

Stretching from the main train station (bahnhof) to the Bürkliplatz at the head of the lake, Bahnhofstrasse is the Zurich‘s “Main Street”. Mont Blanc, Credit Suisse, all top brands you have ever heard about when thinking about Switzerland, surrounded by fountains, public art, and distinguished buildings are there.

Although many of the shops are filled with high-end goods, it is a popular place for everyone to enjoy. The middle section of the street was built in 1867 and has some

8. Lake Zurich

The favorite place for tourists and locals is the beautiful Lake Zurich. The visitors can enjoy the lake in one of the many cruises that reveal beautiful views to the mountains covered in snow, while the entire shore is lined with promenades and parks, where everyone can catch the sun, jog, picnic, and swim in the lake.

The beautiful Zurich horn Park built for the National Exhibition in 1939 is about 1.5 kilometers from Bellevueplatz and is where you’ll find the Chinese Garden and a boat that runs along the river to the lake.

A large flea-market is held every Saturday with over 500 vendors, including antiques dealers and hobby traders during the summer on Bürkliplatz.

Around the Lake, between Bellevue and Zurich’s Opera House, you’ll find the Sechseläutenplatz, the civic center that combines ​​tradition with modernity and it’s a popular

9. Zurich West

Zurich-West is a modern neighborhood full of creativity, design and architecture. We stayed at the 25h hotel, which is close to the train station and surrounded by  restaurants, bars, galleries and quirky boutiques. The Freitag Flagship Store, (the container store), the Viadukt and Frau Gerolds Garten are the top places to visit around there.

10. Lindt Museum

10 minutes from downtown by Bus is the famous Lindt Home of Chocolate. This place was in my Bucket list and you’ll find an article with details. At Lindt you can join a delicious day with an interactive audio-guided tour through the chocolate museum. The entrance is 15 CFH per person and takes around 2-3h. Is super fun and in addition to tasting some Swiss chocolate and you can take tons of pictures in the giant chocolate fountain.

We wished we could move to Zurich for a few months to enjoy everything. The city is amazing and a place I must recommend for a drink is the beautiful xxx, which has one of the most amazing Libraries you can imagine.
